Chrys Kub PT, c-NDT, C-IAYT, is an integrative physical therapist who graduated with a BA in Economics and Political Science from UNC Chapel Hill. Chrys spent the beginning of her career working at Carolinas Rehabilitation Institute as a staff therapist and later clinical manager. She specialized in working with patients who had suffered a spinal cord injury, brain injury, or stroke with a focus on Adaptive Fitness and Sports for this population. Chrys was drawn to working with pediatrics with neurological deficits and thus she became certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment.
When yoga started booming in the west in the late 1990’s, Chrys became immersed in the practice of yoga and realized the amazing benefits of yoga for her patients. She is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists and a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT). She has been a leader in the field of yoga therapy, operating her own private practice FitYogaTherapy. FitYogaTherapy specializes in the individualized treatment of persons with neurological and musculoskeletal disorders through the tools of yoga and the provision of continuing education in yoga therapy. Chrys developed yoga therapy training programs for YogaFit and Holistic Yoga Therapy Institute, which resulted in the training of yoga practitioners and health care professionals in the field of yoga therapy. Additionally, she presented at the Symposium for Yoga Therapy and Research several times.
Myofascial Release is an area of expertise for Chrys and she has developed her approach of integrating yoga practice with the tools of myofascial release for her students and patients. Through the use of foam rolling, yoga massage balls, breath, and yoga postures, her clients have had wonderful success in improving their well-being and feeling more freedom of movement.
Chrys enjoys fitness and being active. She is a Spinning Indoor Cycling instructor, avid cyclist, Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Instructor at the Educator level, and Certified Personal Trainer. She has two wonderful children who are now “full grown.” Chrys’ philosophy for working with patients is to partner to find a path to wellness through the tools of myofascial release, functional exercise, and yoga for a lifelong approach to feeling your best self!
