Our physical therapist owned facility, coupled with our independence from insurance company participation, means that we can hold true to our core values in the care that is provided to our patients. In the state of North Carolina, you have the right to see a physical therapist without a prescription or referral from your physician.

Fee for Service vs. Insurance-Driven Practices

Since opening its doors in 2003, Roper Physical Therapy has operated on the principle of fee for service, thus, guaranteeing our time is spent with you and not with insurance companies. Large, insurance-driven physical therapy practices are often required to see 3 to 4 patients in an hour to increase reimbursement and meet costs.

We believe in quality care over the quantity of care. The extra time we give to our patients allows for better overall outcomes, faster results, and a more valued experience.

Can I bill my insurance for reimbursement of my out-of-pocket expenses?

In most cases YES! Patients can get reimbursement for their treatments. You will be able to print claim forms off your insurance company’s website and send it in with the receipt that we provide for you. All billing and treatment codes you need will be listed on your paid invoice. The amount of reimbursement is completely dependent on your insurance plan. When you call your insurance company to inquire, you should ask about reimbursement for “out-of-network” Physical Therapy expenses. All insurance policies are different, but most patients can expect to be reimbursed 40-80% of their session fee. We do have a worksheet available to assist you with this process.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes  related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipmentand hospital fees.
  • Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least$400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
